  • Digital Magazine

In 2016,  I co-founded this digital magazine to showcase all the sides of Squamish culture, beyond just adventure. As an early adopter of digital marketing and a recent digital communications certificate from SFU, I was eager to enter that realm.

The site quickly gained a large following from residents and tourists alike. Our revenue model focused on creative digital marketing campaigns for local businesses.

Our many clients included Britannia Mine Museum, Sea to Sky Gondola, SPUD groceries, Re-Fresh Market and Squamish Beer Festival.

In 2018 I stepped back to focus on new opportunities. Although the website is re-imagined, the content is still archived there. Check it out!

  • Cafe

Co-founded the first restaurant in the Sea to Sky focusing on organic whole food while catering to the vegan, gluten free and vegetarian community.

The initial concept was built with the desire to showcase and host community, as well as bring life to the food options available in Squamish. It became the local hotspot to hang out and grab a coffee or bite to eat.

Sold in 2013, Zephyr remains a successful and well-loved cafe in the community (as well as a tourist foodie destination) to date.

  • Home & Gift Shop

In 2006, I founded a home accessory and gift shop to give the locals of Squamish a place to find cool, independent products.

Focusing on a new emerging demographic, I showcased new brands while also creating excitement around local artisans.

Owning Hive Home and Gift fed my love of design, merchandising and brand building, as well as my ability to scour the globe for awesome products.

Sold in 2011 and remains open today.

Sample Collaborations

  • Vegetarian Restaurant: New Vegan Menu

I created and launched Heirloom’s first dedicated vegan menu, which was the largest in Canada at that time. By implementing systems for a new menu, I was able to increase efficiency and address labour costs.

I also developed the menu for the Heirloom Juice bar with the goal to  expand into “To-Go food”, with systems in place to prepare and serve within limited kitchen space.

Heirloom is celebrated today for its modern and locally-sourced menu. It welcomes both vegetarian/vegan palettes as well as the everyday carnivore.

  • Downtown Revitalisation

I was an active member on the board of directors for Squamish Downtown and was in charge of leading rebranding initiatives. This also meant facilitating a brand identity workshop to help define our vision.

During the process, I helped identify and implement ways the image of the downtown core could be elevated and was instrumental in: launching the Passport to Shop and Win program, new planters, replacing signage, refinishing benches, implementing the parking stall patio program and changing bylaws to include sandwich boards and merchandise on sidewalks.

Today, Downtown Squamish’s quaint aesthetic and relaxing atmosphere is highly sought after for living, investing and shopping opportunities.

  • Chef and Food Program Development

During seasons 6-8 of hit survival series Alone, I was responsible for the entire food program including menu creation and cooking as well as sourcing products. This came with its own challenges due to our remote location.

I ensured every crew member was catered to from vegan and gluten free to paleo food options, as well as a restorative diet for participants after they left the wilderness. Being far from home with limited resources, food became the highlight of the crew’s day! My team ensured everyone was happy, healthy and could relax with some delicious meals.

  • Feasibility and Business Model

I joined the team at Tiger Bay to explore diversifying revenue streams. Our work focused on a commercially zoned section of their development in Britannia Beach BC. We deep-dived into the feasibility of two major projects; a roadside artisan market and studio space, and a coffee shop hub/ food truck zone.

For the market, I helped the team with: business modeling, costing, brand experience, projections, and community outreach.

I was later brought in to ideate and gauge the feasibility of a coffee shop and food truck hub. This included: business model and plan, financial projections, brand experience design, permitting, and project planning.

It was an ambitious project where my entire skill set was drawn upon and I was praised for my ability to understand the community and plan how all the pieces would fit together.
